New Beginnings

Happy 2013 Everyone!

Hopefully you all are kicking butt at your New Years Resolutions!

As for me, well…I don’t like to call them resolutions. More like goals/things to work on and strive for. And what are they you ask? I’ll spare you all the details and just list a few. AKA my big ones :)

1. Run another Marathon.

Oh but wait! If you follow me on twitter, this was finalized last night. My dad is the best and gave me an early birthday present. 2006_logowYup – I’ll be trading in my Ugg boots for cowboy boots. Okay not really, but I will be visiting the good ol state of Texas to knock another state of my 50 in 50 list! Can I get a woot woot!?

2. Stretch, Foam Roll & Ab work daily.

No, I don’t care that its a rest day. I need to do these three to keep up with my training (ahh I love saying that!). Injury free = happy runner. To be honest, I will say I have been extremely lucky in the injury department since I started running. 1 minor injury last spring and my IT band due to ill fitted running shoes. Moral of the story: buy proper shoes. Always.

3. Try out a new Pinterest recipe 2x per month.

Yes, school is stressful, exciting, demanding and interesting. Sometimes I don’t have time to cook and sometimes I do, but I have all these appetizing recipes in various boards that need to be put to good use! Plus, I really liked Grilled Cheese sammies.

4. Better Posture

I really really need to work on this. I’m only 4’11 so every centimeter counts in my book! I have a feeling this will be my toughest one…

5. Finish up all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights.

Already on season two and all I can say is – I love how awkward Matt is :) Such a cutie.

6. Meet Michael Buble

Okay, everyone needs that one goal they know they are just never going to achieve. So why can’t this be mine!?

What is your biggest resolution for 2013?

  1. Oh my gosh I LOVE the posture goal…I have the worst posture ever! My sister even calls me a question mark because I always slouch. It’s a horrible habit, so I’m jumping on that goal with you :)

  2. I love these goals! That’s so exciting about your marathon in Texas! I also love the Pinterest one too! I bet that would be a great way to add some variety to my meals.
And I’m with you on the posture one! Mine is terrible and I really need to work on it too!

  3. Yay for your marathon!! Exciting :) I hope that goes well for you, can’t wait to read about it. I am so with you on foam rolling and stretching! I need to do so to stay healthy through my half marathon training cycle

  4. Good list girl! And woohoo for running another marathon in a new state to boot! That’s my goal for 2014 haha…till then I’m going to spend the year focusing on being present/in the moment, keeping myself open to new opportunities, and keeping myself healthy!

  5. aaaah a marathon in texas!! That’s definitely gonna be an adventure – I’ve always wanted to do a “destination race” :-D . And yeah, stretching, foamrolling, core etc are key – rest days are honestly probably the best time because you’ve got time to be thorough with it!

  6. I have several things I would like to do in 2013- one of which is to run a marathon :) I would also like to work on my posture this year. It’s insane of how different a body can look if you just stand up straight. I feel like I loose 5 lbs whenever I just stand upright and don’t slouch :)

  7. Great goals! I really need to work on more foam rolling… it really helps with my soreness after strength training. I always forget to do it though. I had to LOL at your #6! Hope you get to someday! :)

  8. I had to laugh at the better posture things. It reminds me of when I was younger…my mom was constantly yelling at me to “put my shoulders back!”…gah. I have to say, though. Her nagging worked. I’m pretty cognizant about it now. Or at least I try to be…

  9. I love that your goals are varied and not all like “I’m going to eat healthy” or “I’m going to stop eating sugar”. Running a marathon is pretty awesome! I can’t believe you’ve already done one!! And Michael Buble… hey, a girl can dream right? ;)

  10. Ah, that’s so exciting about the marathon! Go big or go home in 2013 … and they say everything is bigger in Texas. :) I don’t set resolutions either; I’m more of a goal-setting girl. This year, I plan to make ab work a priority too.
