It all started when my roommate turned 21…and no I aint talking about drinking. I am talking about
Belgian Waffles.
Ahhh the light, fluffy texture makes me swoon.
In all seriousness though, I had never had a Belgian waffle until her birthday this past September. It was pretty much love at first bite. Since that lovely corruption, I have made lots of combos, such as one with the Weefuls Mix
Topped with Crunch Barney’s Butter = Perfection.
Now, Holly is also famous for her waffle love. I had some kale and cheese to use up and thought what better way than to make a waffle.
Parmesan Kale Waffle
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup WW Flour
- 1/2 – 2/3 cup water
- 1 large egg
- 1 large handful of kale
- 1/4 cup Sargento 6 Cheese Italian Blend
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- Garlic powder & Basil
After all the ingredients are gathered, just pour them into a bowl and cook to your waffle iron’s directions.
I would say I’m off to go make some more waffles, but that would be a lie since I am home for the holidays and without a Belgian waffle iron maker. *Deep sigh*

I could eat these forever no joke
Cheers

Belgium waffles are amazing! I used to live in Belgium when my father was posted there (military) and remember how warm and fluffy they were with chunks of sugar throughout! yum! Barney’s crunchy AB looks delish! I’ve only tried the smooth version a long time ago and I just recently spotted the crunchy version but I put it back because I totally forgot what it tasted like! haha
And now I want a waffle! Great.
Oh my gosh. YUM!!!!
What a great idea for a savory waffle! I have to try this!
I love the idea of making a savory cheesy waffle! I’ve always associated waffles with butter and syrup, but I have no doubt that I’d love this spin. Thanks for the inspiration; I’m definitely going to try this. Possibly with coconut flour!
I’m not sure what to think of a savory waffle, but my husband loves bacon cheddar pancakes, so I’m willing to try it. If I ever get a waffle iron. I remember making waffles at sleepovers growing up, but I’ve never had an iron of my own to use.
That is a tough addiction to battle… You took amazingly beautiful photos of them & I want to eat the screen! Yum!
I’m sad to say that I have never had a Belgian waffle! When I was in high school, I would always get breakfast when I went out to eat, no matter what time of day. I always went for french toast, though. Belgian waffles always looked good, but I just loved that french toast too much! I need to try one… I like the idea of savory waffles, too!
I have been craving waffles for MONTHS!! I need to just go BUY a waffle maker already! I LOVE the twist on the usual sweet waffle and making it savory with kale!
swoon! my waffle maker broke a few years ago and I miss it!
Mmmm I love the idea of a savory waffle!!:) By the way, did you receive your package from my Go Raw giveaway yet?
Yes – I got the package right before I left for winter break so I will start trying it all as soon as I get back to campus
Kale and cheese waffle!? Girl you are blowing my mind….. I think I need to make this asap…
a cheese ad kale waffle? Sounds intriguing! I would have never thought to add a combo like that together! Maybe I should dust off my old waffle maker that has been sitting in the cabinet since I bought it and used it only once several years ago..
What an amazing roommate. Wish mine invoked these habits in me!
Oh yum!
I have yet to try a Belgian waffle…..I’ve always been more of a pancake kind of girl. Although I did go through a blueberry eggos obsession back in the day….
Oh my gosh don’t even get me started on waffles…I eat them every weekend! So so delicious and filling – I’m still in love with pumpkin so I’ve been making pumpkin buckwheat waffles nonstop with no end in sight!
This post made me realize it has been wayyy too long since I’ve had a waffle! My mom used to make them all the for me all the time when I was a kid. I love the idea of a savory waffle, I’ve never tried one but it looks fantastic!
oh, i’ve never considered a savory waffle! good idea!
a savory waffle! Now that’s pretty epic. I do actually have a waffle maker here in my apartment, so I guess I need to get my act together ad start making some of these!
I loooooove waffles! I’ll have to try this, thanks!!
Oh no, these look so good. I have a serious love affair with waffles too…you might have created a monster.
Now you need to make me a waffle with the waffle maker I am positive you are getting for Christmas
Thank you for the sweet sweet comment at the beginning. I try not gonna lie. Yum to waffles, I am craving one now
YUM! A belgian Waffle Maker is on my Christmas List so this little creation will hopefully be tried ASAP!!
I love the idea of a whole wheat savory waffle! Something about having a waffle at lunch or dinner time sounds so appealing
I never would have thought to make a savory waffle! This looks like such a fun recipe – thanks for sharing
Mmmm, I haven’t had homemade waffles in the longest time. We might have some for breakfast on Christmas morning–fingers crossed.
I want a waffle maker!! Everyone makes these delicious looking concoctions that are so drool worthy. I should have asked Santa for one.
On the bright side, I just purchased a crockpot for my roommate as a gift. She’ll be making dinner.
I can’t tell if my comment went through due to my wonky interenet. Anyways-I nearly thought I was your roommate due to my intense love for waffles LOL Anywho, my recent favorite waffles have been savory such as kale but also smoked salmon with cheese is really good. You should give that a try! (Maybe people don’t judge me because I live alone…LOL)
At first I thought I was your roommate, due to my love of waffles. I really enjoy savory waffles as well. I’ve been loving on kale and goat cheese as well as smoked salmon and goat cheese lately. People judge me, but the benefits of living alone LOL.
parmesan kale? oh girl that flavor combo sounds crazy good
Yummm these look good! You could try the same recipes with pancakes
My Mom used to make belgian waffles all the time for us when growing up. They are soooooo good! I totally prefer them to pancakes. I love your take on a savory version!
What a great idea! That sounds delicious!
